What Are the Typical Features of Safety Training?

Posted in Construction & Renovation

Safety forklift  training sessions are held by industry experts who are trained and certified in handling forklifts. The sessions will involve disbursement of information on speed limits, proper usage of mandatory signs, recognition and action on spotting warning signs and usage of the horn. Some other topics which are covered are the usage and the importance of safety belts for operators, controlling speed and safety protocol to be followed while manoeuvring the forklift.

Safe working environment and regular training of the employees will help you minimise the chances of accidents. You can train your staff on how to maintain industrial machinery, manage traffic and provide emergency aid for forklift related problems.

Responsibility of employer

As a good and responsible employer you have certain legal responsibilities. Providing a safe working environment to all your workmen and operators is one of them. Your work processes should be designed in a manner that the occurrence of risk is minimised and the chances of accidents reduce.

This is especially true when you are operating a heavy duty commercial vehicle like forklifts. The machinery you use should confirm to industry standards. Now the problem is even if you follow all these specifications you still face a lot of risk if the forklift operators are lacking in knowledge and skills. You need to train your forklift operators frequently (preferably twice a year or more) on safety protocols and forklift operating guidelines.

Training and work practices

Forklift drivers and other workers need to be provided adequate training in safety protocols and periodic inspection of work sites are essential to implement these work controls which would prevent accidents and ensure a cleaner work place.
