Laminate Flooring — A Virtually Maintenance Free Flooring

Posted in Construction & Renovation

Wood flooring provides warmth atmosphere in your house. If you want your floors to remain in top condition and reduce frequent repair expenses, you must clean and polish it regularly. Floor sanding, done once every decade, is also an excellent way of removing years of accumulated dirt and protecting your clean floor surface with a sealant.

Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors are excellent if you are looking for a flooring option that is low on maintenance. Although initially laminate was considered a cheap and shabby alternate to wood and hence rejected by discerning users, nowadays it is being used extensively because of its several advantages. Laminate manufacturers are now offering designs and finishes that compare to natural wood in luster and textures.

Laminate floorings are also extremely durable making them a good long-term investment for floors. Top grade laminates are resistant to humidity, temperature, abrasions and other wear and tear issues that affect floors regularly. This is because such high quality laminates are coated with aluminium oxide that dramatically improves the strength of the floor. This layer of coating also protects the laminate from stains, scratches, spills, dents, bumps and other damages. Laminate floorings are also virtually maintenance free which means you will not have to spend regularly on floor sanding.

Just vacuum clean your laminate floor regularly and wipe it with a damp mop periodically to keep the surface sparkling clean. Use water and a mild detergent to remove stains and dirt. Never use strong cleaning agents such as hydrochloric acid, bleach or hydrogen peroxide to clean your laminate floor.
